Mark started his career in hospitality back in 1988 where he began as a pizza delivery driver whilst studying at university. By 1990 he was running two pizza delivery outlets at the age of 21 and loving it. He then moved into computer retailing as an Area Manager before deciding that he wanted to return to food and he joined KFC as a District Manager in 1996. Mark then worked in Operations and Franchising with Yum Brands in Europe during which time he lived in Madrid and Geneva and was responsible for all of Yum’s franchised businesses across three brands and 10 countries. In 2006, he returned to the UK as Business Development Director for KFC before making the move into general management by joining Restaurant Associates (division of Compass Group) in 2008. Within 12 months Yum lured him back to run the Pizza Hut UK delivery business which he did until 2013 during which time he oversaw the sale of the dine-in restaurant business to Rutland Partners and their subsequent integration as a franchisee. He then joined Starbucks as Managing Director for the UK and helped to take that business from a loss of £21MM in 2013 to a profit of £35MM in 2015. In 2016, he joined Bill’s Restaurants as CEO where he focused on building a strong core team and operating processes, creating a clear and compelling strategy for growth and returning the business to strong like for like and new unit growth.
