Alex is the Managing Director of Glendola Leisure Group – one of the UK’s leading Family Owned private pub and restaurant operators.
Famous for the award winning Waxy O’Connor’s and the Rainforest Cafe, with recent expansion seeing the additions of Le Monde and Angel Share in Edinburgh through the acquisition of Saltire Taverns and the Lansdowne and the Fox in London through the acquisition of Hand Made Pubs.
True to his entrepreneurial routes and in pursuit to create unique artisan concepts Alex developed the first fully Barrel Aged Cocktail Bar concept Silk & Grain , as well becoming a Small Batch Coffee Producer with Gordon Street Coffee, a Gin & Steak specialist with Alston Bar & Beef, in Glasgow & Manchester, and an Artisan Brewer with the creation of the Shilling Brewing Co.
2019 will see Alex open the second Gordon St Roastery in Edinburgh alongside his new 98 Bedroom design Hotel, Market Street.
Alex was Chairman of the ALMR between March 2004 and March 2009 and has been actively involved in bringing the ALMR & BHA together to form UK Hospitality the true one voice for the sector.
Prior to Glendola Leisure, Alex held a number of management positions with Hilton Hotels. A Harvard Business School Alumni he also trained at Westminster Hotel School and Cornell University.
